At The Rug District, we’re committed to providing a smooth and trustworthy shopping experience. We understand that sometimes a product may need to be returned or exchanged. Below is our detailed return and warranty policy.

Return Eligibility & Conditions

Return Notification

  • Notify us within 15 days of receiving your order to be eligible for a return.
  • Once authorized, you have an additional 15 days to ship the item back.
  • Returns requested after 15 days from delivery will not be accepted.
  • To start a return, email info@therugdistrict.com. We will confirm your request within:
    • 24 hours on weekdays
    • 48 hours on weekends
  • A Return Authorization (RA) number is required. Returns without an RA will not be accepted.
  • Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless due to a shipping error or defective product.
  • Items must be returned in original packaging, including all components and accessories. Improperly packaged items that arrive damaged may be refused.

Condition of Returnable Items
To qualify for a refund, products must be:

  • Unused, and in resalable condition
  • Free of stains, dirt, wear, pet hair, or odors
  • In original packaging

Non-Returnable Items

  • Custom-sized rugs or made-to-order lighting
  • Clearance and final sale items
  • Discontinued products
  • Sample swatches

Cancellation Policy

  • Orders cannot be cancelled once shipped from our warehouse or the manufacturer.
  • If a shipping label has been created, the order is considered in transit and will follow the standard return policy.

Restocking Fee & Store Credit

  • Returns are subject to a 25% restocking fee to cover inspection, repackaging, and processing.
  • Choose store credit instead of a refund to have the restocking fee waived. Store credit never expires.

Special Orders

  • Special orders follow the standard return policy once shipped.
  • To cancel, contact us before the supplier releases the order.
  • Oversized rugs or may require special return arrangements. Contact us before shipping back.

How to Return

  1. Email info@therugdistrict.com to request an RA.
  2. Receive your RA number and return shipping address.
  3. Once the item is returned and inspected, a refund or credit will be processed within 30 days.
  4. You are responsible for carrier claims on lost or damaged returns. Use a trackable, insured service.

Damaged or Rejected Returns

  • If returned items are damaged or unsellable, we will notify you.
  • No refund will be issued. You may:
    • Have the item shipped back at your expense within 14 days, or
    • Allow us to discard it if we do not hear back.

Warranty & Damage Claims

Damaged Shipments

  • Inspect items immediately upon delivery.
  • If damaged or defective, notify us within 7 days.
  • Email info@therugdistrict.com with your order number and photos/videos.
  • We will respond within 24–48 hours and coordinate repairs, replacements, or refunds.
  • Keep all original packaging until your claim is resolved.

Missing Items

  • Report missing items within 7 days of delivery.
  • Claims after 7 days cannot be processed.

Late Damage Reports

  • Damage reported after 7 days is not eligible for free replacement.
  • We may offer:
    • A discount on a replacement, or
    • Help arranging a repair at your expense.

Limited Warranty Coverage

  • Covered: Defects within 1 year of purchase.
  • Not Covered:
    • Rugs with normal wear, shedding, or pile compression
    • Cosmetic damage (scratches, discoloration, dents)
    • Damage from improper handling, or use
